Continuous Improvement (CI) is an approach to improving processes through small incremental changes. CI is an iterative cycle often described by the phrase: Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA cycle) and a huge part of the philosophy is that the people doing the work are the best people to know how to improve it.
Unlike 'big bang' changes, CI does not require addressing everything all at once or finding the perfect solution immediately. Instead, it makes the change process easier to start, less risky, and less disruptive. Small improvements can usually be quickly identified, agreed upon, and incorporated.
CI is all about a structured method and set of tools, a growth mindset and a supportive culture. By applying it, you can enhance the efficiency and quality of your processes and services, ultimately improving your stakeholders' experience.
